Todays modern
hearing aids now include open fit models which are very small
discreet hearing aids that are suitable for mild to moderate and
high frequency hearing loss.
These hearing aids sit on the ear and incorporate a small Mould
or Bud which seats nicely in the ear canal whilst providing as
much openness to the ear canal as possible. This allows
the natural entry of normal everyday sounds.
This ensures that the ear canal is not as occluded as is the
case with more conventional hearing aids such as In the ear
hearing aids that occlude the ear themselves or Behind The Ear
models that are combined with full shell moulds.
It is true that this type of hearing aid may not be suitable for
all hearing losses but where it is there are several advantages
namely:
-
Very small and
very discreet
-
Very
lightweight
-
Targets sounds
for speech
-
Ear moulds or
buds are inexpensive and of universal fit for mild to
moderate hearing losses.
-
A vast range of
colours are available
